DSM sign-in or permission errors
Fix DSM password, two-factor authentication, and Download Station permission problems in Swads.
“The username or password is invalid”
Confirm that the account can sign in to DSM and that its password has not expired or been locked. After repeated failures, DSM may also block the source IP; check the block list in DSM security settings.
If you recently changed the password in DSM, edit the instance in Swads and enter the new one.
Two-factor authentication
When two-factor authentication is enabled, Swads asks for a one-time code after your password. DSM decides which code it needs, so enter whichever one appears:
- A code from a third-party authenticator app
- A code that Synology Secure Sign-in shows on your other device
For an OTP, enter the current code exactly as it appears, including a leading 0 when present. Codes expire quickly, so check the number on your other device right before submitting.
If valid codes keep failing, confirm that the date and time are correct on the iPhone, Mac, and NAS. A clock difference can make an OTP expire.
DSM sign-in works, but the task queue denies access
Being able to sign in to DSM does not guarantee Download Station access. In DSM user and application permissions, confirm that the account can use Download Station.
After changing the permission, reconnect the instance in Swads. If the old session remains invalid, edit the instance and authenticate again.
