iCloud sync and credentials
Learn how Swads syncs NAS instances and credentials between Apple devices.
Swads stores connection settings, saved passwords, and DSM sessions separately. Connection settings and saved passwords can sync through your private iCloud account; DSM sessions stay on each device.
| Data | Storage | Syncs across devices |
|---|---|---|
| NAS type, QuickConnect ID, username, and direct address | Swads, with sync through your iCloud account | Yes |
| Resolved QuickConnect address and refresh settings | Local device storage | No |
| Password saved with “Stay signed in” | Apple Keychain | Through synchronizable Keychain |
| DSM sign-in session and device identifier | Current device Keychain | No |
Apple Keychain is the encrypted password storage built into iPhone and Mac.
What “Stay signed in” does
When Stay Signed In is enabled, Swads saves the password in Apple Keychain. Another device can use the synced password to sign in and create its own DSM session.
When Stay Signed In is disabled, Swads does not save the password. Enter it again when the session expires or when you first use the NAS settings on another device.
Check iCloud status
App Settings shows whether your iCloud account is available and when Swads last checked it. The NAS list also shows when changes are being received from iCloud.
Sync availability depends on the devices using an Apple Account and their system iCloud and Keychain settings.
